My name is Liam Clark. I refuse to give up on the arts and humanities in the 21st century. I've dreamt of being a writer since I was around six. In the 18 or so years that have followed, I've produced a first novel now being considered by literary agents, and I've done so according to my own methods and philosophy.
I'm boundlessly passionate about the revolutionary power of education and literature. I've experienced it firsthand in volunteer tutoring roles delivered in both English and French, for elementary and high school students, which have been some of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. My foremost goal in life is the furtherance and promotion of contemporary literature, literacy, and democracy.
I'm exhilarated and propelled by artistic innovation and experimentation. I reject the idea that technology must present a mortal threat to art, or for that matter to democracy, pluralism, civil society and other vital imperatives so often put at odds with it. With human ingenuity, determination, and creativity, renewal and renaissance are thrillingly possible.
I hold a B.A. with Distinction in art history and have studied English, journalism, philosophy, creative writing, history, sociology, and political science. In my current professional life, apart from my writing, I work in media monitoring for the Government of British Columbia, summarizing and curating each day’s relevant news items for officials.
I love cats, grammar, Björk, Frankenstein, pineapple rum, Jeremy Bentham, Gilmore Girls, homemade pie crust, and grunge music. In my spare time, I can usually be found overthinking something or forgetting to take my makeup off before I fall asleep.
